The Guest House

The Guest House is of modern construction with a unique architectural design, completed in January 2010. All modern conveniences are situated within the structure giving a functional comfort to the summer temperatures and comfortable cool winter evenings. The temperature only varies 5 °C on average between seasons. There is no real winter other than the two periods of monsoon rains first from the South West the second from the North East of which can be very heavy with large thunderstorms over a prolonged period. Lightning/thunderstorms are fantastic but not for the faint hearted a panorama of light over the mountains and beyond.

The Guest House is located on the Hantana mountain giving a spectacular view of the Knuckles range and many other mountains. All the rooms are facing South with early morning 05.30 sunrise and 18.00hrs sunset both are beautiful to watch. There is very little dusk, it gets dark very quickly and casts a variety of differing shadows across and over the mountains as the sun goes down.

If you are interested in nature there are many wild animals and birds transgressing around and over the house, during the day and especially on the road at night you will pick up in the headlights Boars, Porcupines, Mongoose, Marmots, Fruit Bats and other nighttime creatures. Mosquitoes are not a problem due to location and altitude of the Home at 2400 ft (712 Metres) with no water collecting areas or ponding for breeding, we close the windows at sunset just in case and open again at 19.00 hrs. 

Enjoy sitting on the garden terraces or balconies breathing in the cool mountain air without pollution as a gentle breeze comes straight off the Indian Ocean having a refreshing drink or refreshments or viewing the spectacular scenery.
